Today it was told to me on Twitter that I’d been on there for 1 year, and that meant I’ve been blogging for one entire year! It’s unbelievable!
I wanted to thank some of my friends and the community I’ve met this year.
For this special occasion I wanted to share a bit more about myself as a Content creator and Share my Journey with anime!
Who is Art of Anime?
Well where do I start?
My name is Tori I’m 22 years old living in the United Kingdom, I’m currently studying Photography at University and I’m in my First year.
I’m essentially a geek, I love Marvel and DC (more of a DC fan then marvel), I love to read (skullduggery pleasant, The mortal instruments).
I love watching crime shows such as Criminal Minds and NCIS, I still love watching Scooby Doo!
Here’s just some fun facts about me
First anime ever watched: Tokyo mew mew
Favorite color: Blue
Languages I speak: English and Japanese (beginner)
Favorite anime (currently): Detective Conan (sorry zankyou no Terror..)
Favorite song atm: Whatever it takes – Imagine Dragons
Favorite video game: Persona5/Animal Crossing: new horizons
A place you’ve always wanted to live: Japan
Dream job: Photographer/Gallery Curator
How did you get into anime?
Little did I know my very first anime was Tokyo mew mew, but back then it was called mew mew power and they had the English dub on UK television! (very surprising)
It wasn’t until I was 15 that my best friends started to watch Hetalia: Axis Powers and I decided to join in, I ABSOLUTELY hated it, I thought it was ridiculous so my friend lent me her DVD of Black Butler.
Sebastian had to be my first anime crush, I loved Black Butler so much I started watching more and more, the first anime’s I think watched was Tokyo Ghoul, Darker than Black, Ouran high school host club and my first ever favorite anime I had to be Guilty Crown.
In 2016 I attended my first comic con with my friend at Manchester, since then I have been 3 times, I constantly watch anime as a daily thing, I am that invested when I watch anime I can pick out VA voices and know who they are immediately, and that is the same for both Sub and dub 😉
How did you get into blogging?
Last year I got the news that my flights were canceled and I was supposed to be heading to Japan (yes japan) and on the 31st March, Japan closed its borders and then COVID-19 took a turn for the worst and the United kingdom went into its very first Lockdown.
Since I had absolutely nothing to do, and my life had turned tits up I was stuck at home wondering where the next bit of my life would go? I have been watching anime since I was 15 and to say I’m 22 now and have watched over 200 different titles maybe even more is impressive.
1 year ago today I decided I was going to do what I’d wanted to do in such a long time, start a blog and reviewing the things I loved the most and never would I have thought to be a part of a community I’m extremely proud off.
Just the other day I got a few words of Encouragement from a fellow blogger and I realized I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
Have any Anime Preferences?
Women have the freedom to watch whatever they want, but the misconception is that girls watch romance/shoujo anime. I can’t tell I’m different because I enjoy anime like Skip Beat and Ore Monogatari!! and Kamisama Hajimemashita.
But I spend 90% of my time watching Shounen anime, and my favorites include Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach
I love My hero academia, Fairy tail and atm my favorite has to be Black Clover (that I’m not honestly ready for next Tuesday)
if you want to check out my top 10 anime (will need be updating at some point) head over to http://art-of-an-ime.com/my-top-10-anime/
Soon Ill be coming out with a review of the Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather movie that came out last year and I must admit I am a secret Fujoshi and I have watched many Yaoi anime’s and read many Yaoi Manga.
Subs or dubs?
As I always repeat on my reviews I’m always a pro dub anime watcher mainly because it was what me and my friends watched, Funimation was always my go to as I love watching anime’s directed by Mike McFarland such as Attack on Titan, Caitlin Glass such as Fruits basket and Zach Bolton such as Psycho pass.
Since last year dubs have been coming very slow, due to voice actors keeping safe and because of that I had the choice to wait for the dub to come out which could take some time or just watch the sub, since then I have watched more anime in sub such as Horimiya (which I’m sorry the dub is just terrible) and Jujutsu Kaisen.
In the past if an anime hasn’t been dubbed and I really wanted to watch it sub would be my only answer such as Haikyuu, Kuroko no Basket and Food wars who in recent years each has a dub, but since I watched them in sub first, I am pro sub for these certain anime titles.
Has there been a time you’ve given up watching anime for a short period of time
As a I grow Older I certainly feel like I watch less and less anime as I try and get my life on track and struggle to get through my degree.
When 2021 rolled around I decided to just watch a few anime or catch up on some that I’ve not manged to watch yet, for the winter season I’ve managed to save Attack on Titan, Beastars, sk8 infinity and log horizon, I have many episodes to binge watch this next week coming up!
I never thought that I would stop anime and I don’t think I will, but I think once I start my 3rd year at University who knows whether I’ll have the time.

How long do you think your going to blog for?
Obviously its been a whole entire year already!
I started when the first lock down occurred when I didn’t have much to do, I have a small feeling if I’ve been able post while I’ve been juggling everything I’ve needed to do.
Then there is most certainly going to be another year of blogging!
If you could choose any of your first 10 blogs to rewrite, which one would it be and why?
If I had the time, I’d go back and rewrite most of my early blogs, from Gangsta to Kill la Kill. I definitely feel like my writing has improved as I’ve progressed through my degree and learned how to critically evaluate art, which is similar to reviewing anime.
Maybe during summer when I have a bit of free time I’ll be re-uploading some of my earlier work.
Anyone you want to give a special shout out to?
My first shout out has to be to Roki B over at @Solitarycubbyh , this guy was the first to welcome me to the community when I first started out, I feel like he has secretly supported me from the shadows this year and I’m eternity grateful.
Celeste over at @CSparkles60 has to be a special one to me, we have gotten so close lately due to the fact that we both have an obsession with Animal Crossing, and that we both live in the UK. Celeste has been my go to girl and very grateful to have her in my life ❤
Rose over at @melo__nsoda we bonded over Moriarty the Patriot last year and became close! Its nice to know we have similar tastes in anime, and I cant wait to Fan girl with her once season two comes out in a week or so 😀
Cody over at @CodyLatosh I feel me and him started at the same time but since it says he was around since 2017 I guess that wasn’t the case! I really enjoy reading his reviews and opinions and the other day sent me a really supportive message so many thanks Cody for the support
and last but not least YumDeku over at @YumDeku, YumDeku messaged me at the beginning of this year, after talking for a bit he convinced me to get a domain name, to start setting up ads, he is the reason why I art-of-an-ime.com exsists instead of .wordpress.com
But it isn’t just these 5, its everyone who has supported me and followed my journey for this entire year!
Thanks for coming on this journey with me!
